Reusable Panty Liners

Most people’s first worry about cloth liners is that they’ll slide. Ours won’t, because the wings snap shut under your underwear. Wear one for everyday discharge, for spotting and light days, or as backup with a cup. You get bamboo terry against your skin and a waterproof back, a rinse that takes about 45 seconds, and 5+ years of wear from each one. Two shapes. The 7-inch Liner is wider, and the 8.7-inch Extended Liner is longer, with a dark side that keeps stains out of sight.

Liner or Extended Liner?

Extended Liner6.3 × 8.7 in2 tampons’ or disposable liners’ worthDark (charcoal bamboo)Longer coverage front to back, and days when you’d rather not see stains

They hold the same amount, so pick by shape. When the liner comes off clean but your underwear is marked at the edges, you need width, and that’s the Liner. Marks further forward or further back mean you need length, which is what the Extended Liner gives you.

For discharge and spotting

This is what most daily liner wearers are dealing with, and it’s where cloth earns its place, because it sits softer than paper and there’s no adhesive strip to peel off your underwear at the end of the day. Some women like the light Liner because they can see the color of their spotting between periods. Others would rather not look at all. The dark Extended Liner is for them.

For light bladder leaks

A few drops when you sneeze or laugh? A liner handles that, and the waterproof back keeps it off your clothes. Not a real leak, though. Anything past a few drops needs a pad, and our pads for bladder leaks are made for exactly that.

Will they be hot for everyday wear?

Less than a disposable. The part that touches you is bamboo terry rather than the plastic top most disposable liners have, so it doesn’t trap warmth against your skin in the same way. The back is a different story. It’s waterproof, which is the whole point of it, and nothing waterproof breathes like plain fabric. So on hot days, swap it a little sooner.

How many do you need?

Periods have a rough pad count. Liners don’t, because the number comes down to how often you wear one, and that’s different for someone with daily discharge than for someone who only wants backup on the last day of a period. Count the liners you’d use in a day, multiply by the days between washes, then add one or two spares. For daily wear and a wash every other day, one set covers it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it OK to wear a panty liner every day?

Plenty of women do, mostly for discharge. Change it whenever it feels damp and wear what’s comfortable against your skin. A change in color or smell, or any itching, is worth a word with your doctor.

Can I use a reusable panty liner for discharge?

That’s the most common reason people buy them. When you take one off, rinse it in cold water, then wash it with your usual laundry.

Are reusable panty liners good for bladder leaks?

For the light ones, yes. The waterproof back stops a few drops from a cough or a laugh. Bigger leaks call for a pad, and our pads for bladder leaks are made for them.

Will they stay in place?

The wings wrap under your underwear and snap together, which stops the liner creeping toward the back. Snug underwear helps. Every liner we make has them, including the Extended Liner.

Are reusable panty liners thin?

Not paper-thin. There’s a layer of cloth and a waterproof layer in each one, so they’re thicker than a disposable liner. Next to any of our pads, though, they’re slim.

What’s the difference between the Liner and the Extended Liner?

Shape and color. The Liner is 7 inches square with a light absorbent side. At 6.3 by 8.7 inches, the Extended Liner is narrower but longer, and its dark charcoal side hides stains. Each holds about 2 tampons’ or disposable liners’ worth.

Can I use a liner with a menstrual cup or tampon?

As backup, it’s a good match. It catches the odd leak, and on the first and last light days of your period it might be all you need.

How often should I change a reusable panty liner?

When it feels damp or full, just like a disposable. In hot weather you’ll probably change it a bit sooner.

How do I wash reusable panty liners?

Cold rinse after use. Into a wet bag until laundry day. Then a normal wash with your usual detergent. No soaking, no bleach, no fabric softener. Our wash and care page has the full routine.
